Subaru USA Shining Brighter Project

Director/Producer, Dawn Hathaway, and Cinematographer, Evan Estern capture a perfect Teton Valley sunest.

In August of 2016 I responded to a seemingly innocuous mass email. The next day I filled out a brief questionnaire. That same day I enjoyed a 20-minute exploratory phone call. A week later while camping, I awoke at 6AM to drive to the nearest town, Crouch, Idaho (population: 156) for a Skype interview. The only place I could find two bars of internet service was on the porch of a hardware store. I put my laptop on a newspaper stand. It was mildly awkward because I hadn’t showered in three days. My hair didn’t look super.

Just two weeks later a film crew of 6 arrived in Teton Valley on behalf of Subaru of America, Inc. to film a short documentary about my subie-centric lifestyle and the incredible work accomplished by the Teton Regional Land Trust. Four long days of non-stop action and filming ensued to produce a documentary.

As one of three Subaru owners featured in their Shining Brighter Project, a video was shown at Subaru’s national retailer convention in Dallas in October of 2016. Subaru is celebrating Subaru owners that are invested in their local communities and working hard to make a positive impact.

To see the film, check back here in October of 2016!
